Finding dental implant financial assistance and grants can be challenging to both find and get. With some ingenuity and hard work, it is possible to find financial support for the procedure.

There are a few private companies that can provide assistance through loans or funding for insurance premiums. While grants at the federal and state level for dental implants do not exist by name, it is possible to obtain grants by applying specific areas of the tax code. We recommend that you reach out to a tax advisor to ensure you’re proceeding in a legal and correct manner.

Private Financial Assistance for Dental Implants

Private financial assistance for dental implants is limited. Generally, missing teeth is not a condition that is life-threatening. As such we may recommend dentures as a lower cost alternative. That said, private options do exist that may make a complete smile more affordable.

Financing and Loans

Personal loans and CareCredit can be used to finance dental implants. These are the most likely avenue of financial help. Complete the online application form. If approved, the lender may approve in as little as 24 hours. You will need to repay the lender with interest, so plan accordingly.

Most insurance plans contain long waiting periods before coverage before dental implants begins. By borrowing money instead, your periodontist can start your procedure immediately.

Supplemental Insurance

Supplemental dental insurance covers implants and provides an ideal form of financial assistance for patients able to wait. Many traditional plans classify this expensive surgical procedure as cosmetic or elective. They will not pay claims to replace a tooth in this manner. However, this non-traditional plan pays claims after you meet a 24-month waiting period.

The plan cost relative to the expected benefit for implants and other maxillofacial surgeries can make the cost affordable. You already know you need the work to operate on your gums to replace your teeth. Comparing the cumulative monthly cost to the valuable benefits paid by the plan.

Government Grants for Dental Implants

Both Federal and State Government grants for dental implants do exist. You just have to be creative and open-minded to find them. One very common program with a very different name could provide you with significant savings.

Federal Government Grants

The size of federal government grants for dental implants may vary with your household income. Patients with modest earnings will likely benefit from the largest savings, because of the way the government manages the tax code. There are other factors as well.

Dental implants may be tax deductible. It is possible to take advantage when filing your taxes by completing Schedule A and your state’s equivalent form. Your employer’s Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a great way to save.

Deducting your dental implant expenses on Schedule A may be beneficial. Some patients will begin seeing savings once qualified expenses exceed 10% of Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).

Your FSA may provide savings. You may not have to worry about meeting the expense threshold if your employer offers this program. You can begin saving immediately on any qualified expense including dental implants. Provide your FSA debit card to the dentist for payment. Your employer will fund the expense from your pretax payroll elections.

Please be advised that due to the unpredictable nature of the payment, we do not recommend postponing the treatment for any reason. Going ahead with the treatment plan with personal funding will greatly expedite the process.
